HMP Hull in East Yorkshire has scooped the biggest prize in prison gardening – the RHS Windlesham Trophy. The prison’s garden impressed the judges with its high horticultural standards, commitment to wildlife and the obvious camaraderie between the gardeners. The team also works with local schools and the community to encourage healthy eating and wildlife friendly practices.
Editors note I am convinced this is a major way to go for people who may have lost their way temporarily in lifes complex world of ours .Instead of incarcerating inmates 23 hrs a day in a cell , offer them a healthy ,positive constructive alternative with huge mental health benefits that will ,as proven in so many ways gives, them a completely fresh start ,attitude and approach to life .!! More to come on this i’m very sure towards prison reform urgently needed .
